The monopole and nacel are in place. Rotor blades were damaged in shipment. They are being repaired in Barre Vermont. We plan to fly the rotors on Monday Nov. 17th
Dedication ceremony and commissioning will soon follow. We will update project progress often.
The pole height is 121.36 feet tall. The rotors will extend another 34.44 feet. The F.A.A. has given us approval for our wind turbine to be 156 feet tall.
The turbine was purchased right here in New England and is manufactured by Northern Power located in Barre, Vermont. The award winning turbine is a passively-cooled, permanent magnet, direct drive generator eliminating a gearbox and transmission. This creates one of the quietest turbines available with noise levels measured at 50 dB, which echo the sounds of normal conversation or soft music.
The Northwind 100 wind turbine project is just step number one in our continuing effort to be energy conscious. It is estimated to produce 92% of our annual electrical use.
Future plans include the use of Bio Diesel fuel and solar panels.

If you're fortunate enough to live in a warm climate, your pond can stay active all winter. However, if you live farther north, you're going to have to do a little bit of preparation in order to ensure that your pond survives. The most common problem for Koi ponds during the winter months is aeration.
Most pondkeepers know that the best way to ensure clear pond water is with an ultraviolet sterilizer. Some often overlooked factors are what to do when the UV light is not doing the job anymore. Usually, this is a simple as an old lamp. Depending on the brand, UV lamps should generally be replaced about every 12-15 months of use.
