Aquatic Planting Media is an aquatic plant soil comprised of a unique blend of natural minerals, including zeolite, which provides a clean, easy to use planting media for water gardeners. It is recommended for all potted aquatic plants, and will not change pH or color the pond water.
Q: Will Aquatic Planting Media be better than my garden soil?
A: Most garden soils are not suitable for aquatic plants. Garden soil tends to be too light to securely hold the plants in the pots. Soil rich in organic matter will leach algae-promoting nutrients into the pond water. Loose fluffy soil, ideal for the vegetable garden, will float away into the pond and cause cloudy water.
Q: Does Aquatic Planting Media stimulate algae?
A: No. Aquatic Planting Media adds no algae-promoting phosphate to the pond water.
Q: Will my fish be able to dig in the pots?
A: It depends on the type and size of your fish. Goldfish normally do not dig up aquatic plants. Koi can stir up regular soil as they investigate the pots. Aquatic Planting Media cannot easily be disturbed by most fish. Very large koi, however, can uproot plants in any type of media.
